RESUMO

The productive performance of Santa Inês sheeps was evaluated in three tropical grasses (Andropogon gayanus Kunth. cv. Planaltina, Panicum maximum Jacq. cv. Aruana and Panicum maximum Jacq. cv. Tanzânia), being that each grass occupied an experimental area of 1 ha, with 0.25 ha sub-parcels of each, where rotational grazing was used with period of occupation of 14 days and fixed stoking rate of 22 animals/ha, in the dry season. The experimental design was a completely randomized and the experimental period was of 82 days, where it was attended, to each 14 days, the evolution of the nutritional value of the grasses, through of the simulated grazing, as well as the forage mass and the structural characteristics in each treatment, the period of pre and post grazing, through of cutting method. Also the performance was observed of 11 lambs, with initial alive weight of 18.8 2.88 kg, in each treatment (animals tested) had been collected, how much to the growth rhythm, being that the relative measurements to the weight and the evaluation of the corporal condition had been carried through to each 14 days. The Tanzânia grass showed resulted more satisfactory in the structural characteristics (dead material, stem, leaf blade), being considered more adjusted for the sheeps grazing, when compared with Andropogon and Aruana grasses, during the dry season. The end of the experimental period the animals had been slaughtered to proceed with the evaluation of the characteristics of the carcass and the corporal components. The Aruana and Tanzânia treatments had presented the best productive, relative performances to the rhythm of growth and characteristics of carcass (hot carcass weight, hot carcass production, percentile participation of the cuts in hot half carcass weight), when compared with the Andropogon treatment.
