RESUMO

It is an exploratory-descriptive qualitative study which objectified to identify characteristics in Carraro#s Nursing Care Proposal from the theoretical-methodological background of Meleis#s Theory Evaluation Model. Five stages were used, as follows: description, analysis, critique, testing and support which enabled to identify several characteristics in Carraro#s proposal. It#s a care proposal grounded by Florence Nightingale which presents metaparadigmatic concepts as well as assumptions based on the philosophical humanist view and primary care. The concepts are invariable and operational, having a clear and understandable description, does not present any propositions, being a objectifying process knowledge, including nursing process and interaction. It focuses on the human being undergoing a surgical situation as well as his/her family, with low abstraction level. It reveals a practical use and support once it enables the discovery of new data, among others. Based on the theoretical backgrounds, it is suggested that Carraro carries on her studies and abstractions. The thesis defended is that it is a nursing care model, once it meets the conceptual build-up in this study which is: Nursing care model is a theoretical set, formed by the four central nursing concepts and assumptions, based on theories, objectifying to guide nursing care by means of action systematization, represented in a diagram.
