RESUMO

Very simple nonlinear electronic circuits can present chaotic behavior for some values of the parameters like the frequency or the amplitude of the driving signal. We studied such circuits theoretical and experimentally. A circuit consisting of a resistor, an inductor and a diode in series driven by a sinusodial voltage was built. Time series were capturated and used to construct bifurcation diagrams which present period-doubling, periodic windows and intermittent trasition to chaos. The time series were also used to plot the return maps for the local maxima and we could verify the type-I intermittency in this system. The critical exponent predicted theoretically was found for the average of the laminar lengths both in the experiment and in the mathematical model used to describe the circuit
