RESUMO

The fluvial transport in Recife in XIX century suffered changes on itÂs operation elements and organization observied between 1835-1860. Those changes came from french hydrographic missions and from steamer boat technology resulting on the breaking of the flow among the Capibaribe, Beberibe rivers and the seas and consequently in the disorder of fluvial transport workers in Recife. Therefore it was noticed the gradual ending of the fluvial system, leading to urban territory piers, harbours, wharfs, âfluvial and maritimes passagesâ
