RESUMO

The study herewith presented runs through the urban reality of urban set of the Brasília Pilot Plan, seeking to reflect on its spatiality and the urbanistic management process in the light of historic preservation. In that sense, two analytical directives are used. The first, of physical/spatial nature, deals with urban design that determines both its spatiality and the possibilities of social appropriation. The second one, of managerial nature, analyses the political/institutional management process that has distinguished the urbanistc development, by focusing on the juridical tools that support this work laws of historic protection and urban planning rules, besides the technical background of the involved organisms. The purpose to be attained is the record of inquietudes, contradictions, actions, intents and challenges, all comprehended in the urban management model of space of the Brasilia Pilot Plan, brought about from the critical interpretation of urbanistc reality of public spaces and the preservationist culture that holds it up.
