BalanÃo social como instrumento para avaliaÃÃo das aÃÃes sociais de InstituiÃÃes pÃblicas : uma proposta à FundaÃÃo Joaquim Nabuco

RESUMO

This researchâs goal was to verify the effectiveness of the Social Balance, in the Ibaseâs model, to help the Fundajâs institutional evaluation process in the social area, as a better quality information tool to divulge information to its internal stakeholders. It used the deductive method. In regard of the type, this research can be considered quantitative, being carried through the use of a case study. The data has been collected through a structured questionnaire, sent by e-mail to all the Fundajâs staff in two separate moments: in the first moment, the staff was asked to read the Management Report and to answer a questionnaire made up of questions which intended to evaluate the staffâs perception level of the social actions developed by Fundaj and presented on the Management Report. Later, the Fundajâs Social Balance was prepared, in the Ibaseâs model, with the data of the Management Report. This Social Balance and a second questionnaire were then sent to the staff members who answered the first questionnaire. They were asked to answer it based on the Social Balance information. The data relative to the Annual Report and the Social Balance were analyzed, first, separately, and later, as a whole, through a comparative study between the two moments in order to verify if the Social Balance had an impact on the perception of the social actions taken by Fundaj. In regard of the nature of the collected data, the descriptive and nonparametric statistics were used for the data analyzes. Regarding the non-parametric methods, the following statistics tests were used: Mann-Whitney U, Crosstab and Chi-square. Through the research and the comparison of the answers obtained in the two questionnaires, has been noticed that there has been improvement, for the part of the internal stakeholders, on the perception of the information quality related to the social actions developed by Fundaj. Other important point observed in the research is that 100% staff members affirmed that the institution should adopt the Social Balance as an additional instrument to present its social actions to society. So, we have come to the conclusion that, once prepared properly, utilizing the appropriate indicators to the institution, the Social Balance will allow the internal stakeholders to understand better the social actions developed by the institution.
