RESUMO

Pterodon emarginatus Vogel (Leguminosae), popularly Known as sucupira-branca or faveiro, is native plant, easily found all over central Brazil. The infusion of its bark leaves and seeds are effective action anti-rheumatic, analgesic and antiinflammatory. The present work available the phytochemistry and pharmacological potential of P. emarginatus Vogel seeds. The essential oil (EO) was extracted for hydrodistillation and the respective fractions hexanic (HF), ethyl acetate (AF), buthanolic (BF) and methanolic (MF) prepared using Soxhlet apparatus. Tests class of substances showed the presence of flavonoids, leucoantocianidines, tannins, cardiotonic heterosides, cumarins and saponis in the seeds and leucoantocianidines, tannins, cardiotonic heterosides in all fractions tested. The EO was active against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 and showed acute toxicity against Artemia salina. The HF and BF showed leishmanicidal activity against Leishmania amazonensis promastigote forms. The BF and MF showed antioxidant activity against DPPH radicals. The EO and the fractions obtained of P. emarginatus seeds showed antinociceptive activity, in acetic acid-induced abdominal writhing, formalin test and hot plate test. The cream containing EO and HF produced potential activity against burns. The EO showed antiulcer activity in ethanol absolute, indomethacin and HCl/ethanol models, anti-inflammatory activity in the pleurisy induced by carrageenan and antitumoral activities for all tumor cells lines used in this work. These results are promising and the Pterodon emarginatus Vogel seeds seem have actives components might be a new therapeutic option
