RESUMO
We present a self-locking intramedullary nailing system (Fixion®) for treatment of long bones fractures and failed fixation systems. The features of this system and the advantages of the technique include: fixation along the entire length of the nail, lack of proximal and distal interlocking screws, optional reaming, reduced exposure of the surgeon X-Ray and reduced operating room time. The purpose of this study is assessement if the fractures (group A) and failed fixation systems (group B) healed well without locking screws. Was obtained 98 % of fractures healing in group A , and 82 % in group B. According to the Karlstron Olerud Modified Score we get 85 % of excellent and good results to group A and 75% to group B. We compared to the update literature. We conclude that fractures and failed fixation systems healed well by this method.
