RESUMO

With the expansion of pipelines mesh through all the country, researches that ensure the security and durability of these installations are essential. The present research presents and compares some techniques of computational modeling applied to pipelines with corrosion defects for the analyses of its residual strength. Shell finite elements were utilized for being computational costless and modeling simpler than solid finite elements. The use of these elements is possible because the duct has thin walls in relation of its diameter. The modern materials X65, X70 and X80 were used in the numeric simulations. Internal pressure loads combined with axial compression or traction loads were considered, simulating any conditions of use. The results of the implemented models are presented and compared with experimental values found in literature when existing and with the traditional semi-empirical analytic methods B31G, 085dL or Modified B31G, RPA or Modified 085dL and DNV RPF101.
