RESUMO

The results of the recovery process of damaged areas depends on the method and conditions of terrain and possible treatments in this field. This dissertation has present a methodology for evaluating the efficiency of methods for revegetation of degraded areas in the mining of nickel. The different types of treatments have been developed between the months of July/2004 to January/2007 at nickel-mining area, located in the unit of Votorantim Metais in Goiás Niquelândia. The objectives of this study are to evaluate the efficiency of methods for revegetation of areas degraded in the mining of nickel in the areas of study and test the practical use of waste from mining to allow the recovery of degraded areas and minimize environmental impacts. The areas where the treatments were performed by means of the hidrossemeadura include sterile areas of the stack, where the material layer of organic material had been deleted (sterile) and old deposits of waste in the process of beneficiation of nickel (reject). We used the digital photographs and software ENVI 4.3, to evaluate success of treatment and verify the effectiveness of the revegetation of areas impacted by mining. And the results indicated that the success in the process of hidrossemeadura in the recovery of an ecosystem degraded by the use of topsoil and tailings from mining that contributed to the recovery of areas now by treatments.
