RESUMO

The aim of this study was to evaluate the flow rate, the filling and dye leakage in artificial lateral canals using 6 different sealers (Pulp Canal Sealer (EWT), Endométhasone, Target H&D, Sealapex, Sealer 26 e AH Plus). The flow rate was analyzed through 57 American Dental Association (ADA) and 6876 International Organization for Standardization (ISO) specifications. Two lateral canals were produced in the medium and apical third of 82 dental roots with 0,1mm drills. Lateral condensation and the sealers were used to fill the root canals and buccolingual digital radiographs were performed. After 48h the roots were immersed in Indian ink and cleared in methyl salicylate. Pulp Canal Sealer (EWT), AH Plus and Target H&D were able to accomplish with 57 ADA and 6876 ISO specifications. Sealapex and Sealer 26 accomplished with 57 ADA specification but not with 6876 ISO. Endométhasone were not able to accomplish with any specifications. Lateral canal fillings evaluated by radiograph, clearing technique and dye leakage were statistically similar for the 6 sealers tested. The dye leakage demonstrated that AH Plus and Sealapex permitted less leakage than Pulp Canal Sealer (EWT). This data were statistically significant. The radiograph was not able to demonstrate the filling of lateral canal in approximately 20%. There is no correlation of the flow rate required by the 57 ADA and 6876 ISO specifications and the sealers ability to fill 0.1mm artificial lateral canals
