RESUMO

In this study, it was evaluated in vitro the retention of intraradicular posts cemented with resinous sealer and zinc phosphate sealer, in teeth obtured with zinc oxide eugenol-based cement, in different periods between the obturation, preparation procedure of the prosthetic space and posts cementation, by means of tensile test. Sixty superior canines had the crowns sectioned and the roots embedded in resin blocks. The specimens were distributed into 3 groups, according to the periods between obturation and posts cementation: GI - immediate; GII - 72 hours and GIII - 4 months. After the biomechanical preparation and canals obturation with zinc oxide eugenol-based cement, the prosthetic spaces were prepared with cylindrical drills in low rotation, connected to a paralelometer, respecting the considered times. Each group was subdivided in two groups, according to the type of sealer used during intraradicular posts cementation: zinc phosphate and Panavia F. Following the experimental periods, the specimens were submitted to the tensile test in the Universal Test Machine, at a speed of 0.5 mm/min, and the results were submitted to the statistical analysis. The Tukey test showed significant difference (p<0.001) between tensile strength values of the posts cemented with zinc phosphate sealer (0.2112 kN) and Panavia F (0.0501 kN); however, no significant differences (p>0.05) were observed between the obturation periods and posts cementation, regardless of the cement. It was concluded that the endodontic zinc oxide eugenol-based cement influenced the tensile strength of the posts cemented with resinous sealer, but did not interfere with the different periods between the obturation, preparation procedure of the prosthetic space and posts cementation.
