RESUMO

The activities that cause high impacts to the soils in the Cerrados are causing a significant increase in loss of productivity with respect to areas of agriculture and loss of resilience in degraded environments by mining. In the Federal District (Distrito Federal), the mining is responsible for degradation of a length exceeding 0.6% of the size of territory, disregarding this region is inserted into the second largest biome is the Cerrado where he meets with only 20% of its original native extension. The mining of gravel in the DF laterítico has grown so indiscriminate because this material is a very important raw material in the construction of highways. However, this material is in the sub-surface layer of soil, usually in the C horizon of a soil profile. The materials from mining are generally operated and after the exhaustion of the deposit, many places are left without the necessary intervention and rehabilitation of degraded areas. The assessment of soil quality in mined areas is for the purpose in this work, see if environments degraded by mining of gravel are with the physical factors, biological and chemical important to understand your return on present and past conditions that can be views on land adjoining the Cerrados. Therefore, we studied the physical attributes, chemical and biological Cascalheira of five in the Federal District (Distrito Federal) and were revegetated using organic matter as a source of the sewage sludge, supplied by the Company of Environmental Sanitation of the Federal District CAESB. The Indices of Quality of Substrate found indicate that the condition of the substrate through the incorporation of sewage sludge together with the techniques of soil conservation important to contribute to the reconstruction process of the soil. Only the Cascalheira located at DF430 IQSS obtained values of (0.91) below the adjacent Cerrado (1.0), while other areas had much higher values especially in regard to chemical attributes, confirming the importance of incorporating the sewage sludge as a source of organic matter in these areas.
