RESUMO

In the actual scenary, the growth of the access services demand based on wide band are Strengthening the IPTV services. Thus, the development of a IPTV network architecture project, to adequate to the clients needs and providers objectives, is important to examine the best usages, therefore they will be responsible for the continuity warrant of the supplied services. Beyond this, the architecture has also to respond for the service quality and for the user top expectations attempt, becoming the mentioned service highly competitive if its compared to the cable TV and conventional TV services. IPTV network architecture is made of: transportation protocols and Signaling; video contents delivery form; video compacting type and video delivering form through access networks. The IPTV network quality of experience has become one of the most important aspects for the IPTV related services and products success. To assure a QoE is quickly becoming a priority for sellers and services suppliers. The main challenge is check the QoE in an IPTV network, to determine the parameters of video quality in a simple and efficient way. This work has the objective to evaluate video quality in function of the packets loss and jitter features, on an IPTV network. The packets loss and jitter were the key targets of measuring, in function of their impact on the video quality offered to users. The limits of packets loss and jitter were established and traced for the operator of telecommunications network architecture type, confronting the values established for the WT-126 recommendation from DSL forum. Thus, based on a MOS (Mean Opinion Score) research, the values obtained permitted the confrontation with the packets loss and jitter values based in the operators architecture. Based on the packets loss and jitter values established, is possible to manage an IPTV architecture in a best way as well as to evaluate the enhancement needs in this architecture, so, making a minimum video quality warrant possible, and enhancing the resources of access networks better.
