RESUMO

Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) presents great potential for oral cancer treatment. PDT is known as a local therapy that not only destroy the primary tumor, but also trigger the immune system to recognize, to track down and to destroy remaining tumor cells. PDT can be defined as the administration of a nontoxic drug or dye known as a PS to a patient bearing a lesion, either systemically, locally, or topically, followed by the illumination of the lesion with visible light which, in the presence ofoxygen, leads to the generation of cytotoxic species and, consequently, to cell death and tissue destruction. Recent advances in the biomolecular knowledge of initiation, progression and consequent metastases of oral squamous cell carcinoma are contributing to construct a better understanding of this pathology and also to discover molecule keys for the therapeutical application. This present work aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Photodynamic Therapy using for Chloroaluminum-phthalocyanine-AlPHCl-lipossomal in the oral cancer treatment and its effects on PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway, which have been reported as a frequent event activated in squamous cell carcinoma. The presented results in vitro demonstrate that the treatment with PDT using lipossomal AlPHCl excites different mechanisms of dose-dependant,cellular death being apoptose the main triggered pathway triggered, and can still regulate the proliferation, growth, and other processes for the inhibition of mTOR. In such a way, the PDT using lipossomal AlPHCl presents great possibilities for the oral cancer treatment.
