RESUMO

Being the periodontal illness imuno-inflammatory alterations that result of the reply of the host to the bacterial plaque, the elimination of the plaque and calculation with decontamination of the radiculares surfaces are basic conditions for reestablishment and maintenance of the periodontal health. The objective of this work was to evaluate, "in vitro", the effectiveness of two methods of mechanic scraping - manual and ultrasonic - associates or not to the digluconate of Clorexidine, and still, this one is used separately, in periodontally engaged teeth. Dental units had been transversally parted in the cervical region and radicular apex, being the experimental portion with approximately 10mm. The sample consisted of thirty five teeth divided in seven groups. The experimental dental portions had been seal with resin and the groups codified and identified for different colors in reason of the treatment to be done in each one of the groups, as it is followed: Group 1- manual scraping; Group 2- ultrasonic scraping; Group 3- manual scraping associated to the digluconate of Clorexidine; Group 4- ultrasonic scraping associated to the digluconate of Clorexidine; Group 5- isolated use of digluconate of clorexidine; Group 6- negative control (-); and Group 7- positive control (+).The fragments had been sterilized and contaminated with Enterococcus faecalis 5u-ATCC-29212, except the positive control group. In group 1 was used treatment with sequential movements of manual curettes of Gracey, in longitudinal direction; in the other groups it was followed same normatization of instrumentation, when necessary; Group 2 was dealt with ultrasound in 70% power; Group 3 was treated with manual curettes of Gracey, more application of Clorexidine; Group 4 was treated with ultrasound in 70% power, more application of Clorexidine;Group 5 was only treated with Clorexidina; Group 6 that mentioned the contaminated group that was not treated (negative control group); e group 7 that mentioned the not treated barren group (positive control group). After accomplishment of several experiments between the different sample groups and the data to be evaluated, can be concluded: as much the isolated instrumentations, as the associates to the Clorexidine had been effective in the control of the Enterococcus faecalis bacterium, and still, the effectiveness was similar for both methods of scraping - manual and ultrasonic - in the control of the bacterium.
