RESUMO

Good adaptation of denture bases avoids hyperplasic formations and provides an adequate masticatory function. Porosity can lead to microorganisms growing, Cândida albicans, and decrease of denture base strength. The aim of this study was to evaluate the adaptation and porosity of 72 denture base made with Clássico conventional heat-cured acrylics resins and microwave-activated resins, Acron-MC and Onda Cryl, when submited to bench cooling. Adaptation assessment was performed immediately after deflasking and after 30 days storage period. The methods used were: a) Weight measured of addition silicon (Express-3M) liner between the denture base and the metallic model; b) microscopic linear measurement between the inner part of the denture base and the plaster cast model, in 9 different points on the residual ridge and palate. Porosity was evaluated by weight of each silicon base acrylic resin using a precision scales with 0,001g accuracy. Data were analyzed with ANOVA and Tuckey s test. Conventional cooling technique presented the best denture base adaptation and the fast cooling procedure did not have influence in resin porosity
