RESUMO

The malnutrition, which represents an important world health problem, and the nutritional recovery, needs special attention in course of metabolic changes involved in those processes. A complete nutritional biochemistry evaluation of animals in recovery state was not done yet, and the knowledge about the effects of exercise on these organisms is very incomplete. The lack of knowledge of the stress intensity provoked by training, defined a choosing for a training protocol that could be integrally fulfilled by the animals, in spite of it could not bring changes on the analyzed parameters. The aim of this work was to verify whether malnutrition causes modifications in rats metabolic profile and if nutritional recovery associated or not with exercise (swimming, 30 minutes/day, five days/week during 8 weeks) can interfere in this process. Fifty six Fisher female rats (28 days old) were divided into six groups: control sedentary (CS), control trained (CT), recovered sedentary (RS), recovered sedentary (DT), malnourished sedentary (MS) and malnourished trained (MT). The animals were kept in individual cages and received water and food ad libitum. After 9 weeks, the animals were anesthetized and sacrificed. Results were compared by two-way ANOVA (p ≤ 0.05). It was observed that recovered animals had higher weight gain and food efficiency. Total cholesterol and fractions concentrations were higher in the malnourished animals and that training reduced cholesterol level only in recovery animals. The values of Paraoxonase activity show that the HDLs of malnourished animals could be not doing the antioxidant protection that was expected for this lipoprotein. The evaluation of the hepatic function parameters show a liver injury of malnourished animals, fact that not occurred on the recovered ones. But the evaluation of renal function parameters suggest that even recovered and malnourished animals had renal injury. In conclusion, nutritional recovery did not revert the actual damages made by malnutrition only in the kidney function and the exercise protocol applied in this experiment did not improve nor harmed the nutritional recovery.
