RESUMO

The present study evaluated dental implants with no primary stability and with uncovered threads, inserted in rabbit’s tibias, in the presence of BMP through the value of removal torque and radiographic’s analysis. It was used 6 adult male New Zealand White rabbits, divided in test (4 animals) and control group (2 animals). Two implants (Neodent HE Titamax Poros 3.75 x 9 mm) were inserted in right tibia of each animal. The proximal implant presented no primary stability and bicortical anchorage; the distal one had 3 uncovered threads. In group test, proximal implant site was prepared so that its diameter was bigger than the implant, creating a space to insert BMP – Bone Morphogenetic Protein (Gen-pro - Genius - BaumerÂ) using collagen as carrier (Gen-col - Genius - BaumerÂ). The implant was placed on BMP. The distal test implants sites were prepared according to manufacturer. The implant was inserted with primary stability but 3 threads were left uncovered by bone. BMP was placed over the threads. It was used a barrier membrane recovering proximal and distal implants. Control group implants were prepared in the same way of test group, but it was not used BMP, just the membrane. After 60 days, all animals were sacrificed and the tibias were removed. Conventional standardized radiographs of the tibias were taken with oclusal films using paralleling technique with the x-ray beam perpendicular to the long axis of the implant and the film. The radiography and the digitized images were analyzed for the same methodologically blind experienced examiner. The mean removal torque value of the implants without primary stability from test group was 74.42Ncm; and for the control group was 43.70Ncm. For the implants with uncovered threads, the removal torque mean value was 74,83Ncm for test group and 72,59Ncm for control group. It could be observed bone condensation xv in 2 radiographies from group test animals. It was also observed a loss of crestal bone height in 3 radiographies. A radiolucent line was seen just around 1 implant from control group. In the present study it was observed, among the used animals, an augmentation of the removal torque value for the implants inserted in rabbit’s tibias, without primary stability in the presence of BMP. It wasn’t observed differences in torque value for the implants with uncovered threads in the presence of BMP. The absence of radiolucent line around the implants was a confirmation sign of osseointegration.
