This study investigated the relationship of the personality traits to self concept. The Escala de Traços de Personalidade para Crianças and Escala de Autoconceito Infanto-Juvenil were administered to 389 children aged from 8 to 10 years, attending at public and private schools. Almost every measure done was differentiated by gender. For the boys, the positive correlations found were between extraversion and scholar and familiar self concept, neuroticism and psychoticism with personal and social self concept, and sociability with familiar self concept. The negative correlations found were between extraversion and social self concept, psychoticism and familiar self concept, and sociability with personal self concept. For the girls, positively correlations between the social self concept and psychoticism and sociability with familiar self concept were emerged. Negative correlations were revealed between extraversion trait and social self concept, psychoticism and neuroticism traits correlated with familiar. The contrasting group’s analyses confirmed the found data.
