The humanity is living the phenomenon of the demographic transition and the big world-wide challenge is to guarantee beyond the longevity, quality of life to the elderly. In the perspective of the active aging, the tourism assumes an important role while element of social inclusion of the elderly one. However, this type of activity requires some cares with relation to the attendance to the necessities of this age group. The aim of this work was to analyze the adequacy of the feeding offered by the hotels of Balneário Camboriú/SC to the aged tourists lodged in system of half-pension. The first study evaluated 329 tourists with 60 years old or more, proceeding from the diverse regions of Brazil and countries of the Mercosul, lodged in hotels of this city, identifying their social-economics and health characteristics, specific nutricional necessities and expectations in relation to the feeding during the trip. In a second moment, the sensorial, nutricional and hygienical-sanitary quality of the meals offered by ten hotels of Balneário Camboriú/SC was evaluated, verifying its adequacy to the nutricional necessities of the studied elderly. The searched tourists, in their majority, were originated from Argentina (61%), the feminine sex (69%) and belonging to classes B (28%), C (47%) and D (19%). It was proved that a significant contingent of tourists with more than 70 years old (42%), of which 5% of them are 80 years old or more. The prevalence of 66% of obesity, together some degree of risk of metabolic complications, for 90% of them was verified among the elderly. The gauging of the arterial pressure during the research evidenced hipertension for 78% of the studied individuals. The diseases more related were: dyslipidemia (47%), intestinal constipation (21%), osteoporosis (14%), cardiopathies, allergies and difficulties of chew (11%), mellitus diabetes (9%) and depression (8%). The necessity of cares with the feeding was revealed by 48% of the elderly related mainly to the restriction of sodium, sacarose, fats, dip fried food and increase in the fibre content of the diet. The feeding (breakfast and dinner) of the hotels was served in auto-service buffet, a great care with the decoration of the restaurants, the diversity of the preparation techniques, the variation of colors, flavors and presentation of offered dishes were perceived. The necessity of adequacy to RDC 216 of September 15th of 2004, that establishes procedures of good practical for services of feeding in order to guarantee the hygienical-sanitary conditions of the prepared food was evidenced for 60% of the searched hotels. It is still concluded, to have the attention necessity the specific nutricional cares with the elderly with regard to offering of options of skim products (milk, cheese and yogurt) and diet foods (jellies, desserts, breads), daily inclusion of the soup in the menu, greater offers of integral cereals (rice, masses), greater offer of preparations on the basis of legumes, reduction of offer of preparations with high content of saturated fats or trans fats and greater stimulaton to the liquid intake consumption of the elderly.
