RESUMO

The association between the position of the IUD-TCu-380A in the uterine cavity of female volunteers and rates of expulsion, discontinuation due to bleeding/pain, and complaints of bleeding/pain was evaluated by ultrasound during the first year of use. At the same time, the association of selected characteristics of volunteers with misplacement of the IUD was studied. Nine hundred and ninety women who decided to use an IUD were followed from insertion through the completion of the first year of use. Volunteers were divided into two groups: A) women with a well positioned IUD (IUD-End <4mm) and B) women with a misplaced IUD (IUD-End >4mm) at insertion. ...
