RESUMO

The Hantaviruses have worldwide distribution and are important public health problem. The epidemiology of Hantaviruses in Brazil shows that is increasing every year the number of cases that are reported and variants have been discovered in several states and the Federal District. In this context, the study has as main objective to examine the influence of climate and the use and occupation of land in the spread of Hantavirus in Federal District, in the period from 2004 to 2008. To achieve this research, we used epidemiological data, climate and land use and images from orbital sensors for the purpose of drafting tables, weather graphics, graphics and cartogram for the spatial detail of Hantavirus in the area. Of the 40 probable site of infection (PSIs) plotted on the map of Coverage and Land Use, 19 (47%) occurred in areas of pastures 10 (25%) in urban areas (periurban), 06 (15%) in areas used for agriculture and 05 (12%) in areas of savanna. So the agricultural activities and urban expansion towards the savanna areas have helped the spread of Hantavirus in the Federal District and especially in São Sebastião.
