RESUMO
This dissertation presents a phonological description of the Kaxarari language, belonging to the Pano family. This dissertation is divided into these sections: Chapter I, in which a discussion about the importance of researching native languages is presented, and also how this project began and the fundamental theory used; Chapter II, which contains information about the Pano family and mainly about the Kaxarari people, their language and Pedreira village. In Chapter III a phonological description is done, using the traditional methodology. Chapter IV describes some phonological processes; although a morphological description is not the main objective of this work, in Chapter V some considerations about the language morphology are done. Concluding, in Chapter VI Kaxarari language is compared to other Pano languages spoken in Brazil, such as Matis, Shanenawá and Katukina languages. Therefore, a general overview of the Kaxarari phonology is presented
