RESUMO

This research seeks to analyze the relation among different literacy practices adapted by teachers who take part in the Alphabetizing Successfully Project in the public educational sector of Pernambuco State, and the qualification of the literacy students. For its development, we got support from the Written Language Psychogenesis Theory, in the studies about Phonological Consciousness, based on discussions about functional literacy and on the âmanufacturing theoryâ in the school everyday routine. This study involved two teachers who were teaching in the 1st stage of the 1st Cycle of the Elementary Education in the public sector of Pernambuco. As methodological procedures, we interviewed the teachers and carried out a series of ten classes observation for each group under investigation, in order to characterize their literacy classes. To trace a childrenâs input profile and analyze their learning process regarding how they get the Alphabetical Written System during the whole year, we applied an instrument with the students of two groups in the months of April and September. The results of the research pointed out that the teachers developed a systematic practice of literacy developed which included the accomplishment of permanent reading activities and the appropriation of the alphabetical written system (identification, comparison, composition and decomposition activities, counting the letters and syllables as well as word formation exercises) in spite of the carrying out of a few phonological consciousness activities. Regarding the students, we verified a process related to Alphabetical written system domain in both groups, since the majority of the students had acquired high levels of written comprehension before the end of the year. At last, we verified that both teachers, in the everyday routine of their classes can âmanufactureâ their literacy practices with the support of materials and orientations put available by the Alphabetizing Successfully Project, and also create sustainable tactics by their knowledge and beliefs, as fruit of their experiences and histories either as students or education professionals
