RESUMO

The object of this work are the verbal and the non-verbal signs printed on book covers - written by brazilian authors and adapted for cinema or television - associating the book to the cinematographic or television production. Its objective was to verify if such signs could or not be classified as paratext according to Gerard Genettes concepts. The motivation for this research appeared with the fact that if those signs were created initially as a book-only piece, how could they still be connected to the main-text? To answer to this question, the signs had been analyzed according to concepts of the analysis of the speech and the rhetorical analysis. The results acquired in the analysis had allowed to conclude that some signs do not configure as paratext and, based on the concepts of the Critical Theory, make possible to understand that certain publishing procedures inserts the book in the cultural industry system.(AU)
