RESUMO

Art and Nature: an experiment of environmental sensitivity by means of art encompasses a journey through time, which presents visions of nature and artistic representation in different cultural contexts, making them emerge and keeping them up-todate in the imagination of the people who took part in the practical experiment of environmental sensitivity. A reference to the past is necessary for a wide-ranging understanding of our present interactions with nature. Nevertheless, this work does not represent a historic study of art. The visual expression becomes a support for environmental studies, in which there is a connection between both long and short duration and an interaction between their meanings. The proposed dialog between art and nature, theory and practice, past and present, universality and subjectivity, word and image, stresses the living process of heuristic investigation, highlighting that art is a transversal mean of sensitivity and dialog suitable for Environmental Education. The described experiment serves as both theoretical and practical reference to teachers and professionals who intend to develop creative ways within the ambit of educative research.
