RESUMO

In this dissertation, theory runs consciously through the volatile terrain of analysis toward the solid terrain of facts. The intention, models, references and attitude taken in constructing the artwork as well as the deeper working on the images provoked a reading of my work that is formulated in this dissertation. Besides the exhibit, this reading intends to demonstrate the importance of a method constituted in a workshop a place were the process of creation and the construction of ideas of plastic expression are not linear going from beginning, then the middle to the end. Rather there are poetic derivatives, within a coming and going that suggests a helical structure. Various series of prints were chosen among projects that were conducted and among workshop photographs; from these, two basic procedures were the starting point, the first being a classical or academic procedure, conducted by means of formal knowledge and the second being spontaneous, undertaken according to subjective criteria in relation to the point, line and graphical smear. The prints that are presented were produced over a period of 18 years and they have been named Apparent Chaos. During this doctoral study, these works were chosen as a means of signifying the graphic sign
