RESUMO

We have measured the excited state spectra of two organic dyes, Nile Blue and Rhodamine 640 and two semiconductor doped glasses of the type CdSxSe1-x (Corning Color Filters), CS-2.59 and CS-2.61, using a transient population grating technique. The grating was obtained through the spatial modulation of the energy level populations induced by an interfference pattern of two pulsed beams derived from the same laser. A third beam from a tunable laser was used to read the grating. The first order diffraction efficiency of the probe beam is proportional to the square of the module of the complex ground and excited susceptibility difference. In this work the essential points of the thechnique were verified experimentally, The excited state spectra were obtained and were observed high energy levels using visible laser
