RESUMO

This study aimed to examine anthropometric indicators of body composition and nutritional status of children 5 to 11 years of age the initial grades of elementary school and its development between the years 2007 and 2008. Thus, the sample consisted of 5.118 children in 2007, and in 2008 were evaluated 4.775 students belonging to the Network City, State and Private Education in the Municipality of Cacador - SC. Anthropometric measurements were performed for body mass, height, body fat, as was the nutritional status of individuals. The level of significance was p . 0.05. In general, the results indicate that the average height and body mass of children are not only within the normal range in the different networks of education, and in some cases above the average of other similar studies in the South Region This study also indicates that the growth rates of children Cacador are larger than the indices provided by the study of the NCHS reference. As for body fat on the school of Cacador, in general, you can set that, by analysis of body fat on average, children are at the level of fat within the normal range, according to standards Lohman, except in some specific ages.
