RESUMO
The present essay deals with questions surrounding the cut-out animation technique. Covers its history and analyzes both manual and digital production tools. The essay emphasizes how new technologies can help the production of animation and what is the technical impact that those tools may have in character development. It also discuss interactive applications that make use of cut-out techniques. Altough it has a technical aproach, the essay brings up questions about style and about the fitting of the format to the intended speech when an option is made for one way or another in a production.
