RESUMO

Nowadays, the concern about the environment has been a problem to think about the destination of residues of lot of segments. Jaú, the capital of females footwear, the companies produce a thousand of footwear per day and then about 8 tons of residues per month. The managers whose are trying to save amount, instead of sending these residues to the landfill, they are thrown in the streets, plazas, unused plot of lands, deposited on a completely inappropriate way. It is considered the majority of companies sends to the landfill (suitable place), as a rule, 60% of their residues and, consequently the remaining is discarded in the environment. The biggest mistake is this garbage discarded by the companies, in fact, is money, expenses whose were paid by the companys itself. With natural recourses scarceness, each day, new alternatives are being developed to try to soften this problem. This work will be alternative offers to the reuse of leathers which come from the footwears industries. They are used as: blocks or for building constructions, bricks, linings or covering for building constructions or ceramics. With this work, it had studied which is the best way of collection of these residues and their right destination. As the citys economy is related to footwears setor, the right form is the creation of a co-operative for separating and assorting the residues. Related to this present work, it had concluded that there are suitable alternatives to the reuse of the leather, but unfortunately, with technique problems, the products deriving from this reuse are not produced in industry scale yet.
