RESUMO

A two-dimensional numerical model is used for the problem offusion (solidification) of phase change material contained in a metallic rectangular device. A standard configuration is chosen for which geometric parameters such as width, fin height, fin width, base and top width are investigated. Operational parameters such as heat flux magnitude, heat flux period, convective heat transfer coefficient and temperature of a heat transfer fluid are also analysed. Results are presented normalized to the results obtained with the standard configuration. A numerical method is also developed for the evaluation of the effectiveness versus NTU charts
