RESUMO
A numerical scheme for the geometric non linear analysis of three dimensional cable and frames structures by the Finite Element Method is presented in this work. Two computer programs were implemented, one of them uses the modified and relaxed Newton-Raphson method and the other the Quasi-Newton Method for the solution of non linear system of equations. Simple numerical examples are studied in order to validate the numerical algorithms and the computer programs. Another specifc program was developed in order to simulate the structural behaviour of offshore oil pipelines. This program includes a data pre-processing routine and a linear spring element that simulates the sea bed reaction
