RESUMO

This study analyzed the stress distribution around cylindrical screwed implants with external and internal hexagon simulating occlusion load. Blocks of PSM-1 (Photolastic mc., Realeigh, USA) were milled with dimensions of 35 x 25 x 6,1 mm where the implants were installed. Implants with diameter of 3.75 mm and high of 10.0 mm with external and internal hexagon (Master Screw and Master Conect AR, Conexão Sistemas de Prótese, São Paulo, Brasil). Load was applied with a mechanical device with a load cell with 15 degrees. Each implants were taken separately to a circular polariscope for the observation and interpretation of the photoelastic fringes. Numerical values of the fringe order were obtained for each point marked around the implants images. It was possible to verify different patterns of stress distribution regarding the area and intensity between the implants under 10 kgF load. Highest values was observed in the implant with external hexagon at the cervical area and at the first screw and in the implant with internal hexagon at the apex of the implant. The remaining areas presented similar values
