RESUMO

The main objective of this work is to analyse steel fiber concrete slabs on elastic sub-grade, according to yield line theory. The target is to evaluate which are the right procedures among the calculation in practice, showing that even the elastic theory is conservative. We hope this work will give information and provide some know how to the experts in this area. Due to the lack of divulgations of this methodology, these professionals have many difficulties in design of steel fiber concrete slabs on elastic sub-grade. Finally, our expectation is that this work will bring some lights on the possibilityof the substitution of the conventional reinforcement by steel fibers. This is possible because the steel fiber concrete is a ductile material, which provides load capacity absorption to the slabs and it is absolutely reasonably to take this characteristic in consideration, and then replace ali the commonly conventional reinforcement used in this kind of structures
