RESUMO

The batch distillation process is an operation characterized by its extensive complexity relative to its operation way and its optimization, because a certain project can be used for a variety of systems, unlike the process of continuous distillation. Several operational variables exist to be appraised in the optimization studies for each processed case, which, due to the multi-purpose characteristic of the process, tums out to make very difficult the determination of a global optimal operational politics. Therefore, the main objective of this work is the determination of common and systematic points when the optimization of the process is to be considered. Due to the intrinsic characteristics of the batch distillation, its optimization should be driven by an operation that supplies the maximum possible amount of products within the wanted specifications. Additionally, the operation of the column should have a minimun energy cost, a minimum time of operation and a high productivity. The studies presented in optimization in the literature are in their majority done partially on these aspects and the numerical data relative to the process are quite scarce, not allowing a global and sistematic view on the subject...Note: The complete abstract is available with the full electronic digital thesis or dissertations
