RESUMO

Existing methods for the analysis of Slug Tests and DrillStem Tests (DST s) are based on single-phase flow theory. This work considers the effects of the water-oil two-phase flow on the analysis of these kind of tests. This study is based on a fully implicit radial numerical model, which couples the wellbore and reservoir equations for isothermal water-oil two-phase flow. The wellbore model reflects the Slug and DST s inner boundary conditions for cases where inertial and frictional effects are assumed to be negligible. Two situations that result in oil-water flow in a test are considered: (1) initial water saturation profile over the whole reservoir is uniform and above connate water saturation value, and (2) presence of a region of higher water saturation next to the wellbore. The behavior in time and space of important variables such as water saturation, total mobility, fractional flow, apparent skin, is shown for different cases. Simulator results, for both flow and buildup periods, are compared to available single-flow analytical solutions. A few single-flow analysis procedures are applied to synthetic data and compared to the input data values. The main conclusions of this work are: (1) single-phase methods can be used to analyze oil-water slug and buildup data, provided the initial saturation profile is uniform, and (2) when a small to medium invasion zone exists next to the wellbore, single phase analysis methods applied to buildup data give a reliable total mobility estimate of the uninvaded zone. Skin factors calculated from buildup data have an apparent part, which represents an additional pressure drop due to the zone of altered mobility next to the wellbore at the moment of shut-in. Total mobility and skin factor estimates calculated from the flow period may not represent the properties of the uninvaded zone
