RESUMO

Piraí da Serra, at Campos Gerais region, currently seen as an area of interest for the preservation because their peculiar characteristics, is located on the Devonian Cuesta, near Guartelá canyon. It has a 50.940ha area, at Castro, Tibagi e Piraí do Sul. It is in a region with predominance of Araucaria forests and highlands fields, under the Biome Atlantic, one of the most endangered in Brazil. Natural and anthropics processes had promoted the native spalling of such habitats. In order to subsidize future inferences of such processes, this work analyzes the spalling of the forest vegetation, intending to raise indicative of the natural and anthropic spalling, and to analyze its processes, supplying the environmental planning in the region. It presents a map of use of the land with the main landscape units, with the percentage of natural ecosystems; a illustrated key of interpretation with the indicative and parameters for the SIG determination of natural or anhtropic spalling processes; evaluation of the landscape using landscape ecology metrics, aiming to infer the composition and disposal of the forest patchs; and analysis of the phytophysionomy (field and forest). It was found that 21 patchs certainly posses enough area (79,5%) to assure forest biodiversity conservation. The results pointed preserved environments, where the spalling processes are dominated by natural factors, although in the last few decades the changes in the economic cycles have arised the necessity of actions to prevent the anthropic damage over the Piraí da Serra Habitats. This work integrates the project Spalling of the natural landscape in Piraí da Serra, Campos Gerais of the Paraná financed by the Araucária Foundation (FUP 9824/2006).
