RESUMO

Currently the potential paper filter use is justified, because it is a cheap way of collecting, storage and biological samples transport, since the biological material after collection is stable and not infecting. Is an excellent alternative for countries with limited resources and with difficult access regions. Toxoplasmosis is a infectious disease, that requires special attention to pregnant women, because it remains asymptomatic in most cases, causing injuries of varying intensity to the fetus. Objective: To compare the results of Auto-antibodies Anti- Toxoplasmosis IgM in filter paper (dried blood) and serum. Methods: A study was carried out with collected samples between July 2006 and July 2007, from pregnant women assisted by the Pregnant Women Protection Program of the State of Goiás and routed for the APAEGoiânias Prevention and Diagnostic Institute. Samples are collected in filter paper S&S 93 and then eluted for conducting the prenatal triage tests (Toxoplasmosis, Rubella, Cytomegalovirus, Syphilis, Hepatitis B e C, Anti-HIV, Chagas disease and Anti-HTLV). Were collected 1755 samples, with 1093 negative samples for Toxoplasmosis IgM, 621 positive samples for Toxoplasmosis IgM and 41 undetermined samples for Toxoplasmosis IgM. Negative samples for Toxoplasmosis IgM were coming of vainly positive or undetermined patients for labels of Hepatitis B and confirmed as negative for Toxoplasmosis IgM. Positive or undetermined samples for Toxoplasmosis IgM, were coming of pregnant women with in preliminary triage in filter paper obtained this results. It is used as a criterion for exclusion hemolysate and lipaemic samples with insufficient volume for the necessary determinations. Results: Were analyzed 1755 samples in filter paper and serum, firstly 621 samples were positive, 1093 were negative and 41 were samples with undetermined results for Toxoplasmosis IgM. Results correlation between both methods was 99,12%. Kappa index of 0,98 (great agreement) was found. Filter paper sensitivity for Toxoplasmosis IgM was 99,83%, while filer paper specificity for Toxoplasmosis IgM was 98,73%.
