RESUMO

Mitotic chromosomes of Glossophaga soricina (2n=32,XY; NF=60), Platyrrhinus lineatus and Sturnira lilium (2n=30,XY; NF=56) were analyzed through the conventional staining, C-banding, silver nitrate impregnation (AgNO3) and base-specific fluorochromes. Data of the conventional analysis obtained from the three species are in agreement with those described in the literature, except for the morphology of the Y chromosome of P. lineatus, indicating geographical chromosomal variation for the species. The blocks of CH in the distal region of the short arm of 5, 6, 7 and X chromosomes, observed by the C-banding, in P. lineatus and S. lilium, besides the differential staining in the long arm of the X chromosome of Sturnira lilium correspond a pattern shared by some representatives of Stenodermatinae. The weak marking CMA3+ in the pericentromeric and distal heterochromatic regions of some chromosomes indicate a predominant association of heterochromatin with GC-rich sequences. However, the differential patterns obtained with the base-specific fluorochromes confirmed the heterogeneity of CH to its composition (AT- and/or GC-rich) and proved differential characteristics of the intergenic sequences associated to NORs (positive CMA3, negative or without specificity) in representatives of Phyllostomidae
