RESUMO

The changes in work relations over past 40 years, which has consolidated a system of flexible accumulation of capital, has had a direct influence to build a social model characterized by disruption of the historical traditions and valuing short term perspective, flexibility on job relations and agility to adapt to constant demands for change. As a result, the individual is restricted in hiss ability to construct a narrative that would give meaning to their life, leading him to seek different ways that may be help him to rebuild his identity. The family, in this context, is also undergoing profound changes in the roles occupied by men and women, promoting disruptions to the traditional standards family. The inclusion of women in the labor market, bolstered by their struggle for their rights and by strengthening the system of flexible work, coupled with instability in labor relations makes the family looking for alternative ways to organize family relationship dynamics and keeping their new work an family projects. Within this perspective, social space has a significant function in supporting and validating the strategies developed by people to organize new forms of work and family dynamics. However, this is a time of growing instability of interpersonal relationships, fueled by a process of individuation in which one loses consciousness of class in which the individual is on the pressure for success or failure. The aim of this study is to understand the impact of changes in labor relations on family, from the changes experienced by man in his work and identifying the strategies built by family to sustain their work and family project. For this, two couples were interviewed in semi-directed interview model, which were over forty years old and who experienced a situation which the man got out of a formal system of work and got in an informal work system. It was also considered his socioeconomic position, in order to identify how this issue influenced the strategies adopted by them. From our study we observed that the social space has a fundamental function in supporting transitions that took place throughout life, as a space people can find support for his strategies and ask for help to handle their suffering. For this research, we observed that church has made this support, where people feels comfortable to build social relations and a group reference as well as a structured rules regarding family roles and rules that helps them to justify their choices. It is also observed that individualism and performance enhancement are important culture characteristics can make people evaluate themselves as solely responsible their failure
