RESUMO

The adductor externus superficialis muscle closely envelops the venom gland in the cobra (Naja naja). Only twitch fibres are present in the muscle, supporting the view that the muscle is concerned with the rapid evacuation of venom. 'Satellite' cells are readily observed in relation to the muscle fibres.
