RESUMO

There are many different points of view on the trauma occlusion influence in periodontal disease. This research paper has the aim of verifying the histological alterations in the periodonto in rats as the consequence of a trauma occlusion and a periodontal disease. For this. purpose, 60 male rats were made used of having a weight ranging from 200 to 250 grams. The rat were then divided into three groups. Group I received a cemented surface on the first molar tooth by adding a self polymerizing resin to the occlusal surface. Group II received a silk thread around the first lower molar tooth so as to bring about a marginal irritation, and Group III received the resin and the marginal irritative material. The rats were killed after 6, 11, 16 and 21 days and the area of the first molar tooth were then histologically analysed. It was noticed that the occlusal traumatism was not enough to bring about gingivitis. As to the irritative material, an atrophy through compressive stress and infiltrated inflammation were noticed. After 16 days, an osseous reabsortion was noticed and, after 21 days, a paraqueratose was noticed indicating a tooth restoration process. To conclude, it was noticed that, the association of the trauma occlusion with peridontal disease, there was an accelerated ulcerative process of the epithelium wich could already be noticed after 6 days. After 16 days an epithelial regeneration process of paraqueratose occurred
