RESUMO

The experiment was carried out at the Department of Animal Science of the Universidade Federal the Lavras and at the Food Laboratory of the Universidade Josà do RosÃrio Vellano (UNIFENAS) with objective to evalued the chemical composition (CP, NDF, ADF and hemicellulose) and ruminal degradability of dry matter and neutral detergent fiber. The treatments were: T1 â in natura residue (IN); T2 â residue submitted to the pressure and steam (1270C/1,5kgf/cm2/35 min; PS); T3 â 4 % hydroxide sodium treated residue (for 24 hours, NaOH); T4 â 3 % urea treated residue (for 28 days, U); T5 â 4 % NaOH + 3 % urea treated residue (NaOH/U); T6 â pressure and steam + 4 % NaOH treated residue (PS/NaOH); T7 â pressure and steam + 3 % urea treated residue (PS/U). The results showed that the associated treatments (NaOH/U, PS/NaOH, PS/U) were more efficient to increase the nutritive value of the residue. No effects were observed in hemicellulose. The treatments PS, U, NaOH/U, PS/NaOH and PS/U showed greater soluble fraction (a) and less insoluble potential degradable fraction (b). Better values for effective degradability of NDF were verified for residues treated with U, PS/NaOH and PS/U. It can be concluded that the association of chemical and physical treatments were efficient to improve the chemical composition and ruminal degradability of the cotton textile mill waste.
