RESUMO
This work studies the effect of wavelength converters at nodes of wavelength division multiplexed all-optical networks. Simulations were performed to study the benefit of wavelength converters on network architectures. Moreover, wavelength converter placement heuristics based on the utilization of these devices are proposed. The performances of the heuristics are tested against existing converter placement algorithms in literature.
