AGRICULTURA E URBANIZAÇÃO: NOVAS DINÂMICAS TERRITORIAIS NO NORDESTE BRASILEIRO

RESUMO

This study aimed at analysing the main characterisitics if the urbanization expansion process in the region that stretches from the low course of the River Açu (RN) to the low course of the River Jaguaribe (CE). It is supported that the causes of this expansion are the diffusion of some economic activities, for instance, tropical fruit agribusiness, since this is one of the areas in Brazil where the hegemonic capitals in the area have been more interested in, specially in the intensive production to export. As theoretical support, we consider the re-structure productive process of the agriculture. To develop this study, we systematized the secondary datas and carried out field works on the study area. Furthermore, to better organize the ideas, we divided this study in three main themes: agricultural production; urban economy; population dynamics and labor market. The choice of working on the variables and processes mentioned above, allowed us to analyse better the relationships between the agricultural production modernization and the agricultural space, and the urban economy, which were developed since the re-structure productive process of the agriculture currently in that region. The study also permitted us to understand that the globalized agribusiness have been representing an important role in the urban intensification as well as in the economic growth of local and medium cities. We can also emphasize the increasing of the socio-spatial impacts as a result of the restructural productive process of the agriculture both in rural and town areas, setting up new productive space configurations, forming the region of the low course of the River Jaguaribe (CE) and the low course of the River Açu (RN) a fruit crop productive region, being, therefore, a new luminous point in the northeast agrarian space.
