RESUMO
The current work was aimed at evaluating the effect of different formulations based on plant extracts, in mixture or in combination with the compounds ASM (acibenzolar-S-methyl), copper sulfate, manganese sulfate or manganese chloride, in the severity of brown eye spot and on the number of leaves of coffee seedlings. Biochemical mechanisms involved in the defense response against C. coffeicola were also evaluated. All the treatments were applied by foliar spraying, seven days before inoculation with C. Coffeicola. It was verified that the treatments with pyraclostobin + epoxiconazole, ASM, EFID and EFID+ASM (in the first experiment), ViÃa CafÃÂ and NEFID (two applications) (in the second experiment); copper phosphite, the mixture of EFID with copper and EFID separately (in the third and fourth experiments); copper phosphite, the formulation EFID, the mixture of EFID with manganese sulfate (0,29 g/L) and EFID with manganese chloride (0,435 g/L) (in the fifth and sixth experiments) had provided higher protection against the disease and increase at the numbers of leaves when compared to the inoculated control. The activities of peroxidase, quitinase and beta-1,3-glucanase were higher for samples collected later in time, from 7 to 21 days after spraying. The exception was for β 1, 3-glucanase, which activity increased in the first hours, for the treatments with ASM and NEFID. The highest content of total phenolics was detected 11 days after spraying. The area under total phenolic content curve was significantly higher for treatments with EFID and NEFID in relation to ASM and controls.
