RESUMO
A prototype of a graphical interface for SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) images has being developed and improved. In its current stage, the tool is able to extract the directional wave spectrum and the wind field of ERS 1&2 images. Among the various approaches used in developing the prototype, the evaluation of the currently used methodology in the image interpretation should be highlighted. In this work, synthetic SAR images are generated aiming to evaluate techniques to extract the directional wave spectrum. The coupling between the output of the SAR simulator and the input of the algorithm to generate the wave spectrum is pursued. Furthermore, a detailed comparison between the values used for simulation and the results drawn from the interface allows the identification of deficiencies and potential improvements to the current method. Thus, the present work presents development of the coupling and presents some of the features of the SAR. The results presented indicates that the coupling partially achieved their goal with good results in the wave direction interpretation. However, there are still some issues that should be evaluated to obtain more consistent results.
