RESUMO
Gawel, L. J. (Oregon State University, Corvallis), J. R. Turner, and L. W. Parks. Accumulation of S-adenosylmethionine by microorganisms. J. Bacteriol. 83:497–499. 1962.—A series of microorganisms selected to represent a variety of microbial types was cultured under conditions conducive to the formation of S-adenosylmethionine. Of the organisms tested, only Saccharomyces cerevisiae accumulated measurable amounts of S-adenosylmethionine. Pseudomonas fluorescens and Escherichia coli accumulate 5′-methylthioadenosine under the same conditions.
